Looking for adventure in the summer of 2013? Join the Lloyd Center for an exciting summer outdoors!
Canoeing, camping, and snorkeling are just a few of the activities offered through the 2013 summer programs.
In its 32nd season, the Lloyd Center’s Summer Programs are designed to give motivated students an opportunity to explore different aspects of environmental science.
All sessions include field study, laboratory work, and fun!

FRESHWATER WETLANDS 
3rd – 5th Grades
July 1st – 12th (8 days! 1st week -Monday-Wednesday; second week – Monday -Friday)
9:00 am – 3:30 pm (Monday-Friday)
Members: $425 Non-members: $475
Explore the area’s ponds, swamps, marshes, bogs, and rivers in this 8-day hands-on course.
We will collect wetland creatures, learn to build terrariums and even set up tanks. Don’t be afraid to get wet and muddy!

EARTH, WIND & POWER 
4th – 6th Grades
July 22nd – July 26th (Monday – Friday)
9:00 am – 3:30 pm

If you build it, we can play. Let’s make projects with nature connections!
We’ll create items to catch, track and feed animals - then test them outside. We will capture the energy of wind when we construct a working turbine model and power our imaginations.

I CAN PADDLE, CANOE? 
6th – 8th Grades
July 29th – August 2nd (Monday – Friday)

Welcome aboard! Grab your life vest and paddle because we are spending this week on the water.
We will teach basic canoeing skills and boating safety. We will test our skills while exploring the local estuaries an ocean paddle.

WILD WORLD OF WEATHER – NEW!

Ever wonder what’s happening with the weather? Discover what causes thunder and lightning, and how hurricanes form. Learn about the impact these events have on the earth, people, and wildlife. Do some shocking science experiments and create mini versions of some of these natural phenomena!

MARINE BIOLOGY 
6th – 8th Grades
August 5th – August 16th (Monday – Friday, two weeks)
9 :00 am – 3:30 pm
Members: $550 Non-members: $600
Come explore the ocean and coastal ecosystems. Discover amazing adaptations of sea creatures, large and small. Collect live animals while snorkeling and beachcombing. Visit an aquarium for first-hand observations of incredible creatures. Climb on board a vessel for a chance to see a marine mammal in the wild! And don’t forget to back your bags for an overnight adventure!
