Join the Lloyd Center for an exciting summer outdoors! Animal collection, habitat investigations, and fishing are just a few of the activities offered through the 2016 summer programs. In its 35th season, the Lloyd Center’s Summer Programs are designed to give motivated students an opportunity to explore different aspects of environmental science.

All sessions include field study, laboratory work, and fun!

June 30th – July 1st  (Thursday & Friday) and July 5th – July 8th (Tuesday – Friday)

Play with science?! Participate in experiments that are as much fun as they are fascinating. Reveal the secrets of color-changing paints. Make a bizarre substance called oobleck. Become a mad scientist this summer and uncover the science in the world around you!

COASTAL ECOLOGY2015-summer-programs

Discover the amazing relationships between marine organisms and coastal environments. We will spend our days exploring muddy salt marshes, sandy beaches, rocky shores, estuaries, and more. Collection, observation and adventures await!

Curious about climate change?  Passionate about the environment?  Join us for an exciting and empowering week of field trips, discussions, and team-building activities.  Discover ways in which climate change could affect your community – local beaches, urban areas, wetlands, and more – and become a part of the solution!

FRESH WATER WETLANDSsummer-program-2016

3rd – 5th grades

August 1st – August 5th (Monday – Friday)

9:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.

Members: $300    Non-members: $350

Explore the area’s ponds, marshes and vernal pools in this hands-on course. We’ll get wet and muddy while venturing through marshes and collecting wetlands creatures. Learn how to build terrariums and set up tanks!

MARINE BIOLOGY summer-programs-marine-biology

5th – 7th grades

August 8th – August 12th (Monday – Friday)

9:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.

Members: $325    Non-members: $375

Come explore the ocean and coastal ecosystems. Discover amazing adaptations of sea creatures, large and small. Collect live animals from the ocean while beachcombing. First hand observation of creatures and marine fun make this program great!
