Join the Lloyd Center for an exciting summer outdoors!

Animal collection, habitat investigations, and creature observation, are just a few of the activities offered through the 2026 Summer Programs. In its 45th season, the Lloyd Center's Summer Programs are designed to give motivated students an opportunity to explore different aspects of environmental science.

All sessions include field study, laboratory work, and fun!

Pre-registration is mandatory, and is first come, first served. To receive Member prices, participants must hold a current 2026 Family membership (or higher level).

COASTAL ECOLOGY

9 to 12 years old

July 6 - July 10, 2026   Monday - Friday

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Start your summer off with seaside discoveries! Explore the coastal environment while studying the salt marsh, estuary, sandy beach, and rocky shore.

Emphasis is on environmental awareness, animal observations and skill development. Hands-on activities and outdoor adventures await!

COASTAL EXPLORERS

9 to 12 years old

July 13 - July 17, 2026   Monday - Friday

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Members $450   Non-members $500

Join us for an exciting week by the shore! We will explore coastal habitats and discover the abundance of marine life that inhabits our local waterways.

This program will include visiting field sites and collecting a variety of organisms. Hands-on activities and outdoor explorations await!

While this program is open to all students, those who have participated in our Coastal Ecology or Marine Biology programs will find new activities and adventures in our new Coastal Explorers program!

 

WILDLIFE AND HABITATSA deer in the woods

Investigate the world around us as we explore the diverse habitats of coastal New England. Discover the unique characteristics of both freshwater and saltwater environments as we get hands-on, and at times - wet!

Hie through forests in search of local wildlife and learn how natural habitats are recreated for animals in captivity.

This program offers an immersive look at the many environments that exist all around us, on land and in the water. Join us for this exciting adventure in nature exploration!

 

 

BIODIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND - new program!

9 to 12 years old

July 27 - July 31, 2026   Monday - Friday

Discover the biodiversity of New England!

Join us for this week-long exploration of birds, insects, fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and more! We will spend the week outdoors discovering which local plants and animals call our region home.

Get set for adventure and field trips in this new summer program!

 

 

WELCOME TO WILD WOODLANDS!

9 to 12 years old

August 3 - August 7, 2026   Monday - Friday

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Do you have a passion for exploring your environment? This program focuses on the creatures of the forest and their habitats. Learn more about the trees that make up our own backyards and how they help support animal life. Take a trip to nature reserves around the south coast to observe unique environments and learn about the critters that live there.

Fun, hands-on crafts and activities will be included to reinforce what we have learned on our expeditions. From chipmunks to salamanders, we will be learning about them all!

MARINE BIOLOGY

August 10 - August 14, 2026  Monday - Friday

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Join us and explore the magnificent, coastal marine ecosystems of South Coast MA. Learn about amazing adaptations of marine plants & sea creatures - large and small - by exploring our salt marsh and estuary.  This program will include exciting off site field trips and collecting live specimens - so be ready to have fun while we learn!

Daily trips to the Lloyd Center estuary will include weather & tide observations, as well as marine life collection and habitat exploration. Discovery-oriented, hands-on marine science activities will increase your child's awareness and understanding of the biology of our oceans and local coastal marine ecology!
