Lloyd Center
Awarded $4000 Grant from Norcross Wildlife
Foundation, Inc.
New York, NY - The Norcross Wildlife
Foundation, Inc. has awarded the Lloyd
Center for the Environment (Dartmouth,
Massachusetts) a grant of $4,000. This grant
has been given to the Lloyd Center to
support the acquisition of a professional
display-level aquarium for a
state-of-the-art watershed ecology exhibit.
The Tenecor Cylinder Aquarium will become a
centerpiece for the Lloyd Center’s newly
renovated nature center and when filled with
floating diaphanous jellyfish, will create
an effective and exciting exhibit for the
enjoyment and learning of Lloyd Center
visitors. Combined with upgraded displays of
collections, which range from bones to
butterflies, to live reptiles and
amphibians, this new aquarium will play a
major role in elevating the visibility and
impact of the Lloyd Center’s integrated
research and environmental education
programs.
The Norcross Wildlife Foundation, a
by-product of the Norcross Wildlife
Sanctuary located in Monson, Massachusetts,
was established in 1939 by Arthur D.
Norcross. Their mission is to protect,
enhance and expand habitat for wildlife
primarily at the Norcross Wildlife
Sanctuary; to protect wild land wherever it
is threatened; to propagate, establish,
restore and maintain populations of
threatened and endangered plants native to
New England; to provide the public with
educational programs in natural and
environmental science; and to support,
through grants, gifts, easements and
loans-for-land, the activities of a national
and international constituency of
not-for-profit wildlife conservation
organizations.
