A Tribute to Carol Veiga: A Friend, Teacher, and Champion of the Environment

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Veiga, a beloved member of the Lloyd Center for the Environment community. Carol was a remarkable artist in many media, and her passion for life and the natural world was evident in everything she did. Carol leaves behind her loving husband Joe and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Carol supported and volunteered at the Lloyd Center for over 20 years, generously donating her time and talents to a variety of projects and events. She was an active participant in the Center’s annual Clambake, not only donating beautiful artwork for the event, but also volunteering her time to decorate and assemble the various elements.

In 2013, Carol was awarded the George G. Haydock Award, which is presented annually to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to protecting the coastal environment. This award was a fitting recognition of Carol’s tireless work and dedication to the Lloyd Center and the natural world.

Beyond her volunteer work, Carol was a deeply compassionate and caring person. She taught art at the Dartmouth Senior Center and was a beloved teacher and mentor to her students. She also hosted annual Christmas get-togethers for her students and friends, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all who attended.

Carol’s contributions to the Lloyd Center and the community will not be forgotten, and our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
