Your presence at our wedding is more important to us than any gift. However, if you wish to mark the occasion with a present, may we suggest a donation to our favorite charity, the Lloyd Center for the Environment. The LCE was founded in 1978 when Emily’s grandmother, Karen Lloyd, donated 55-acres of estuary and maritime forest to the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust as a living memorial to her mother. In 1985, the Lloyd Center became a separate, not-profit organization. The Lloyd Center is now an environmental organization on 82-acres that protects the land and sea through research, education, and outreach.
Last year 13,000 students in Southeastern New England participated in the Lloyd Center's active learning programs. We hope that our wedding donations help its conservation and education efforts, instill a lifelong love of nature, and nurture the next generation of environmental stewards.
To that end, our wedding donations will support children’s outdoor learning, environmental education programs, equipment, trails, and the development of an environmental play area for two-to-five year olds, drawing them into an appreciation and understanding of the delicate coastal environment.
It is the ultimate vision of Mrs. Lloyd, preparing children to protect the environment. Your donations will be matched by our family as their gift to us and to the environment.
