Watershed Watch

Make a difference in water pollution prevention!

This program allows students to visualize how polluted water travels through two interactive models. The Watershed model depicts a town complete with a neighborhood, golf course, farm, factory, and the town’s reservoir. It shows students how different pollutants can end up in their drinking water supply. This model also leads students to their own solutions for preventing and controlling water pollution.

The ground water flow model gives students the opportunity to see what happens to water underground. It shows a cross section of an aquifer complete with test wells, observation wells, and injection wells for adding the ‘pollutants.’ Polluted water is represented by food dye, this allows students to see first-hand how it can travel underground and into a water supply. This program is an excellent way to raise consciousness about your town’s drinking water supply and allows students to discover how water travels to your faucet!
