Capital Campaign

After 36 years of serving up to 15,000 students and 25,000 visitors annually with highly-acclaimed experiential environmental education and research programs, the Lloyd Center has embarked on its first-ever capital campaign, Transforming A Legacy. The $3 million campaign goal dedicates $1.5 Million to state-of-the-art, environmentally outstanding facilities expansions and up-grades and $1.5 Million to program support and endowment. The Lloyd Center Board of Directors has determined that outreach to a broad base of community supporters will address the defined facilities and operational initiatives and, in the process, secure the Center’s infrastructure and capital campaign for the future.

Educational Tools

Functioning as educational tools themselves, the Center’s environmentally responsible and naturally integrated facilities will strengthen the programs offered. The Teaching Pavilion will situate students directly in the natural environment, sparking inquiry and discussion. The deep-energy retrofit to the Exploration Center will highlight an older building’s inclusion of sustainable best practices for efficiency, performance and health. The Living Building Challenge™ certified Welcome Center will reclaim and treat its own water, generate its own energy, and use the natural topography of the site for storm management. All the buildings will be inspired by and sourced from the habitats surrounding them. The Lloyd Center will be a portal to experiential learning for the next generation of environmental stewards.
