Lloyd Center Today

The Lloyd Center for the Environment has reached a defining moment, after more than 30 years of serving the community: The time has come to address our most urgent capital and financial needs in order to continue to offer and expand the best and most relevant environmental education and research possible in classrooms and open spaces.

The demand for the Lloyd Center Education Department Programs has increased steadily. The variety of programs has grown to accommodate the needs of individual schools. Because of the increased demands, we have begun scheduling programs over a year in advance for schools that want to ensure a booking date. We are planning for continued growth.

The Center’s Research Department is increasingly in demand as the regional repository of data on the natural history of this region, in particular, the Slocum and Westport Rivers watersheds through the Southcoast Biodiversity Initiative.

Since 2012, the Lloyd Center’s Outreach Department has expanded by connecting with over 8,000 individuals at community events and during our interactive, hands-on programs. We anticipate continued growth and remain committed to providing positive experiences for children, families and adults.
