We are writing to ask you to support the Lloyd Center’s Annual Fund, a critical piece of our operating budget and the major funding source for our research and educational programs.
As you know, Lloyd Center Education Programs have a high instructor-to-student ratio and help support STEM curricula taught in local schools and beyond. In the process, the Center works with over 13,000 students annually, with approximately 50% of those students coming from high-needs areas. The schools simply cannot pay the fees that would cover the cost of funding the services the Lloyd Center provides. Support for these essential programs and for our research keeps them both lively and current.
Examples of what your donation to the Lloyd Center will do:
• Feed our resident screech owl, Koko, for one month ($100)
• Provide a summer program scholarship to a child ($350)
• Provide three classrooms with an interactive field study ($1,200)
• Fund an education or research intern for the summer ($2,500)
Your donations have supported experiences like the following:
“I liked seeing all of the animals. My favorite animals were the spider crab, the clam, and the periwinkle. Thank you, this was my first time seeing those animals.”—5th grader, Fall River Public Schools
“This is such a great experience. Not all of the kids get to have this kind of experience outside of school.” —Second Grade Teacher, Jacobs Elementary School, New Bedford Public Schools
There are many exciting things happening at the Lloyd Center with the ‘Transforming A Legacy’ Capital Campaign. However, these accomplishments are separate from our annual operating needs (research and education efforts) for which we depend on annual support.
Please consider increasing your tax-deductible Annual Fund contribution, and thank you— in advance—for partnering with the Lloyd Center as we teach the next generation of environmental stewards.
