StoryWalk® at the Lloyd Center

During the pandemic the Lloyd Center has been looking for more ways to provide the community with safe nature experiences. We recently learned about the StoryWalk® Project. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

This project is a unique and fun way for both children and adults to take part in reading while enjoying the outdoors. A story book is dismantled and each page is laminated. The pages are secured to a wooden post and placed a visible distance apart on a walking trail. As children and adults walk along the trail, they not only enjoy the beauty of nature but also get to share the joy of reading as well.

Here at the Lloyd Center, our stories are usually nature-based. Our current story is Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter by Kenard Pak. Our walk starts at the visitors’ parking lot along the Forest Management Trail and continues onto the Old Cart Path Trail. Please join us here at the Lloyd Center for our first official StoryWalk®.
