In conjunction with the Lloyd Center for the Environment’s 2019 Annual Fund, the Lloyd Center has joined the #GivingTuesday movement. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

For the Lloyd Center to continue to provide the full complement of programs throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, it relies on your assistance and generosity.

Examples of what your donation to the Lloyd Center will do: Feed Koko, the Center’s resident screech owl, used in education programs, for one month ($100); provide a summer program scholarship for a child ($350); provide three classrooms with an interactive field study ($1,200); fund a research or education intern for a summer ($2,500); provide a year-long education program for an entire class ($10,000).

Your donation will support experiences like these:

“I liked seeing all of the animals. My favorite animals were the spider crab, the clam, and the periwinkle. Thank you, this was my first time seeing those animals.”—5th grader, Fall River Public Schools

“This is such a great experience. Not all of the kids get to have this kind of experience outside of school.” —Second Grade Teacher, Jacobs Elementary School, New Bedford Public Schools

Occurring this year on December 3, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick off the holiday giving season. #GivingTuesday hopefully inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

There are many exciting things happening at the Lloyd Center with the ‘Transforming A Legacy’ (https://lloydcenter.org/legacy) capital campaign. However, these accomplishments are separate from our annual operating needs (research and education efforts) for which we depend on annual support.
