Workshop will focus on hybrid, electric driving

NEW BEDFORD — The “Driving Green” workshop on Saturday is third in the trio of “Shrink Your Footprint” workshops at the Buttonwood Park Zoo.

The series is sponsored by seven local non-profits: Buttonwood Park Zoo, The Coalition for Buzzards Bay, Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust, Lloyd Center for the Environment, Massachusetts Audubon Society Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary, Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance, and Westport River Watershed Alliance.

Interactive presentations and test driving green vehicles will reveal how easy it is to “drive green.” After participants learn how hybrid and electrical vehicles operate, they will have the chance to test drive them.

Chris Zammito, of Toyota Dartmouth, will bring Toyota Prius, Camry and Highlander hybrid vehicles; Jeff Morrill, with Vectrix, will spotlight their electric scooter; and John Paul, with AAA Southeastern New England, will share how vehicle maintenance and driving habits can save money and reduce the carbon footprint.

Information about sponsors and presenters will be made available as well as vendor booths featuring “eco-friendly” ideas and products. Admission is free and open to the public for the event scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be free raffle prizes. For more information, call (508) 636-3016 or e-mail outreach@wrwa.com.
