Join the Lloyd Center for an exciting summer outdoors!
Animal collection, habitat investigations, and creature observation, are just a few of the activities offered through the 2024 Summer Programs. In its 43rd season, the Lloyd Center's Summer Programs are designed to give motivated students an opportunity to explore different aspects of environmental science.
All sessions include field study, laboratory work, and fun!
Pre-registration is mandatory, and is first come, first served. To receive Member prices, participants must hold a current 2024 Family membership (or higher level).

Explore the coastal environment while studying the salt marsh, estuary, sandy beach, and rocky shore. Emphasis is on environmental awareness and skill development. Hands-on activities and outdoor adventures await!
NATURE'S MYSTERIES
9 to 12 years old
July 22 - July 26, 2024 Monday - Friday

Discover the science in nature as we investigate the world around us. Have you ever wondered how mushrooms grow, or why poison ivy makes you itchy? Are you interested in why slugs are covered in slime, or how crabs grow hard shells? We will use hands-on explorations, as well as up-close encounters, to unravel these puzzles. Join us for this unique adventure!
FOREST FANATICS
9 to 12 years old
July 29 - August 2, 2024 Monday - Friday

Come explore the Lloyd Center forest and visit some exciting local nature reserves! Learn more about the plants and animals of our woodlands and hopefully take a peek at some creatures in the natural environment. Along with daily games and hikes, we will be creating tree ID booklets using pressed leaves, performing a "Kick Studies" to view macro-invertebrates under a microscope, and following the paw prints of some of our wild neighbors!

Come explore the beautiful, dynamic, coastal and marine ecosystems of South Coast MA. Learn about amazing adaptations of sea creatures - large and small - by exploring our marsh and estuary. This program will include exciting field trips and collecting live specimens! Discovery-oriented, hands-on marine science activities will increase your child's awareness and understanding of the living systems of our oceans and coastal marine ecology!
